In my opinion games like WoW get away with that (barely) because they're already packed with content, and the class comes with new zones, weapons, armour, raids, dungeons, quests, etc. Of course there'll be at least one instance where the ability is awesome, but Warriors can't handle what they pull if they manage to get multiple mobs in their AoE ability. The Warrior's whirlwind is "OP" in one zone. The Guardian isn't so much badly balanced as broken. Sure, the Mage can be argued as being "OP" because it has range or guns down things faster, but it's a DPSer with faults. In a game that desperately needs that, hiding it behind a paywall isn't a good idea unless there's other alternatives. Originally posted by Fistfantastic:I feel that if any class is "Overpowered" it would be the Tank, because of their self-heal and ability to taunt. The Guardian being free wouldn't harm anyone, as in a F2P game you have the advantage of no entry fee - you can charge for cosmetics, mounts and boosts all you like, and they'll be things you can buy repeatedly for regular income. AQ3D is in desperate need of classes, abilities, talent trees, healing, optimised defence and other stats and all of those things being balanced. As much as I hate the Holy Trinity, I feel it's a necessary evil.īut back to Shoemaker's point: I feel that if any class is "Overpowered" it would be the Tank, because of their self-heal and ability to taunt. Currently though, Tanking isn't effective until there's a healer and DPS that can bring down enemies in a decent enough time (I'm talking about packs here the individual power of mobs is fine 1v1. When the ability that redirects enemies toward said Guardian doesn't bug out, it can be useful. I'll begin by saying the Guardian tanks better *in theory*. I've agreed with you both until this point, although my gripe is a minor one. a transformation.whatever as long as that item isn't OP i don't really see a problem, they are a business bills need to be paided. If AE want to offer premiun content a class. If we are going to split hairs like that then Warrior with it's spin to win is broken & Mage with it's ridiculous attack range & run to win is also broken. The best classes in the game at the moment are all free. His works included the principle that an inquiry must be based on measurable evidence that is confirmed through testing.ġ400s: Leonardo da Vinci began his notebooks in pursuit of evidence that the human body is microcosmic. Science became decidedly more "scientific" over time, however.ġ200s: Robert Grosseteste developed the framework for the proper methods of modern scientific experimentation, according to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. Early tablets contain numerals and information about the solar system, which were derived by using careful observation, prediction and testing of those predictions. The earliest evidence of science can be found as far back as records exist. (Image credit: Oxford Science Archive/Print Collector/Getty Images) This Copernican heliocentric solar system, from 1708, shows the orbit of the moon around the Earth, and the orbits of the Earth and planets round the sun, including Jupiter and its moons, all surrounded by the 12 signs of the zodiac. In science, a theory is the framework for observations and facts, Tanner told Live Science. Saying something is "just a theory" confuses the scientific definition of "theory" with the layperson's definition. For a hypothesis to become a theory, scientists must conduct rigorous testing, typically across multiple disciplines by separate groups of scientists. This does not mean theories are not meaningful. For instance, Newton's laws of motion describe everything we've observed in the macroscopic world, but they break down at the subatomic level. Laws are generally considered to be without exception, though some laws have been modified over time after further testing found discrepancies. "From there, scientists can then ask the questions, 'Why and how?'" "In science, laws are a starting place," said Peter Coppinger, an associate professor of biology and biomedical engineering at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. One example would be the law of conservation of energy, which is the first law of thermodynamics that says that energy can neither be created nor destroyed.Ī law describes an observed phenomenon, but it doesn't explain why the phenomenon exists or what causes it. While a theory provides an explanation for a phenomenon, a scientific law provides a description of a phenomenon, according to The University of Waikato. When an idea has been confirmed over many experiments, it can be called a scientific theory. The process of generating and testing a hypothesis forms the backbone of the scientific method. The control group is what the experimental group is compared against, according to Britannica. An experiment should include an experimental group and a control group. An experiment should include a dependent variable (which does not change) and an independent variable (which does change), according to the University of California, Santa Barbara.Deductive reasoning is the process of using true premises to reach a logical true conclusion while inductive reasoning uses observations to infer an explanation for those observations. Research must involve deductive reasoning and inductive reasoning.Falsifiable means that there must be a possible negative answer to the hypothesis. The hypothesis must be testable and falsifiable, according to North Carolina State University. Some key underpinnings to the scientific method: "The reproducibility of published experiments is the foundation of science. "Replication of methods and results is my favorite step in the scientific method," Moshe Pritsker, a former post-doctoral researcher at Harvard Medical School and CEO of JoVE, told Live Science. Reproduce the experiment until there are no discrepancies between observations and theory.Analyze the data and draw conclusions accept or reject the hypothesis or modify the hypothesis if necessary.Test the hypothesis and predictions in an experiment that can be reproduced.Form a hypothesis - a tentative description of what's been observed, and make predictions based on that hypothesis. (Not to mention my Roland D-20 did all of its sounds in around 32MB ‘back in the day’ – we’re talking huge now!). Of course, Hans Zimmer sample library users who have to clear around 200GB every time they want to play some of his percussion sounds might scoff at a mere 5.75GB, but when I tell you that this is eight times the size of the library on Yamaha’s MOTIF series – itself the standard bearer for digital synthesisers for a decade or so – you’ll realise this is quite a leap up, to say the least. AWM2 is Yamaha’s latest sample-based engine – think high-quality sounds of everything and you’ll be close. There are those two main synth engines: AWM2 and FM-X beneath an umbrella heading called The Motion Control Synthesis Engine. Specs-wise, I could go on and on – Montage really has big numbers backing it. Where once the NAMM Show was about software emulations or ‘iPad everything’, the last couple have been about turning real knobs and switching real gear back on.Īrguably, it’s all part of a (perhaps) unconscious move by the production world to bring creativity out of a virtual environment back into a real one, with the software companies that once ploughed those pirate-laden waters now in on the act, creating hardware to seamlessly integrate their titles into a real, ‘non computer screen’ way (inMusic’s VIP, Ableton’s Push, NI’s Komplete Kontrol and Novation’s Launch range being perfect examples).īut one casualty of the rebirth of classic analogue synthesis (or perfect analogue emulation thereof), and the seamless marriage and transparency of studio hardware and software, has been the digital synth. Emus are large flightless birds found in Australia and are quite similar to ostriches. He began working with an unusual looking bird that was simply called Emu. In 1970, he began co-hosting a children’s show and soon after came his “partner” in comedy – Emu. He soon made his way to performing characters on camera and became popular with fans. There was another person who gained world fame in that weird decade by using his one joke that consisted of essentially physically assaulting people. It was also possible for a comedian to make a good living on just one joke. (Of course, you know bio-rhythms and astrology are just a bunch of nonsense, right?) You could track your bio-rhythms, while you read your daily horoscopes, which were so very important in the ’70s. “Sit on it!” “Kiss my grits!” “Up your nose with a rubber hose!” “Dyn-O-Mite!” “Nanoo nanoo!” “Who loves you, baby?” Everyone except Telly Savales, that is.Īnd there were all those catch phrases pulled from popular television series. As a result, Level Exclusives are once again Level Exclusives. The description in the Build Menu now works as well. Place a jalapeno wheel on top of each dragon egg and sprinkle on some fried garlic. When ready to serve, Place 6 dumplings on a plate and pour some sauce over top. Steam each layer until clear droplets form on the dragon eggs, about 10 minutes. Once the tray is full, brush a thin layer of vegetable oil onto all the dumplings, then place the basket on the base of the steamer which should be full of boiling water. Place the dumplings into the steamer basket it's OK if they touch each other. Generously coat the bottom of a steamer basket with vegetable oil to prevent sticking. Leave the top open so the meat-seafood mixture is visible. Fold and form the wonton skin up and around the mixture to create a bite-size dragon egg. To prepare the dumplings: Lay out the wonton skins on a flat surface, about 10 at a time, and place a heaping tablespoon of the meat-seafood mixture onto the center of each. Start heating water in the bottom of steamer on the stovetop to bring to a boil. Gently combine the crab meat and ground shrimp with the pork mixture. You check to see that your essay moves logically from the introduction to the body paragraphs to the conclusion, and that each section reinforces your thesis. When you revise to improve organization, you look at the flow of ideas throughout the essay as a whole and within individual paragraphs. In a cohesive research paper, information from research is seamlessly integrated with the writer’s ideas. Cohesion means that the elements of your paper work together smoothly and naturally. Organization means that your argument flows logically from one point to the next. However, before you begin to address them, it is important to spend time reviewing and revising the content of the paper.Ī good research paper is both organized and cohesive. When writing a research paper, it is easy to become overly focused on editorial details, such as the proper format for bibliographical entries. Revising Your Paper: Organization, Cohesion, and Unity To do this, you need to teach yourself where to look. You also need to train your eye and trust your ability to fix what needs fixing. However, as a writer and a thinker, you need to learn to be critical of yourself in a positive way and have high expectations for your work. Are you satisfied or dissatisfied? Why?įor many people, the words critic, critical, and criticism provoke only negative feelings that make them blush, grumble, or shout. Set aside your writing for a few hours or even a day until you can look at it objectively.Īsk someone you trust for feedback and constructive criticism. You are proud of what you wrote, but you might be too close to it to make changes. Try them throughout the writing process then keep using the ones that bring results. How do you get the best out of your revisions and editing? Here are some strategies that writers have developed to look at their first drafts from a fresh perspective. You make your essay into a polished, mature piece of writing, the end product of your best efforts. You fix any problems in grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. When you edit, you take a second look at how you expressed your ideas. You might add, cut, move, or change information in order to make your ideas clearer, more accurate, more interesting, or more convincing. When you revise, you take a second look at your ideas. Revising and editing allow you to examine two important aspects of your writing separately, so that you can give each task your undivided attention. Understanding the Purpose of Revising and Editing Also at the end of the chapter, you will see a comprehensive but more general list of things you should be looking for. In the second section of this chapter, you will focus more on editing: correcting the mechanical issues. For example, you will first look at how the overall paper and your ideas are organized. Throughout this chapter, you will see a number of checklists containing specific things to look for with each revision. If each time you review your essay you focus on a different aspect of construction, you will be more likely to catch any mistakes or identify any issues. You should revise and edit in stages: do not expect to catch everything in one go. Writing has the same capacity to profit from improvement and revision. Web designers seek better images, a more clever design, or a more appealing background for their web pages. For both athletes and dancers, the more they practise, the stronger their performance will become. Dancers forget steps, turn too slowly, or miss beats. You may know that athletes miss catches, fumble balls, or overshoot goals. However, even experienced writers need to improve their drafts and rely on peers during revising and editing. You may think that a completed first draft means that little improvement is needed. Both are very important elements of the writing process. Revising and editing are the two tasks you undertake to significantly improve your essay.
And red brace colours might make it look like you are even bleeding from the teeth! So, probably best to avoid. Why? Well, brown and green braces colours look a bit like spinach, steak or some other food that has been left in your mouth. If you opt for red, green or brown when customising your braces colours, just remember you should include them as part of a multicoloured design… You will find a huge amount of variation, so there is something for all tastes. However, you can offset this effectively with dark brace colours, which reduces the contrast. Use dark colours for discoloured teeth: Most people have a little bit of discolouration on at least one tooth, and if it is quite bad then getting braces can make this even more of a problem. Remember to choose duller tones, not too bright. Black, white or grey, all are good options for blending in your braces if you want to minimise how obvious your braces are to others.
Once booted, you'll be able to install or upgrade Yosemite as you normally would.Apple’s latest desktop operating system, OS X Yosemite, won’t officially come out until sometime this fall. Whichever method you use, you should be able to boot from your new USB drive either by changing the default Startup Disk in System Preferences or by holding down the Option key at boot and selecting the drive. Give it some time, and your volume will soon be loaded up with not just the OS X installer but also an external recovery partition that may come in handy if your hard drive dies and you're away from an Internet connection. The command will erase the disk and copy the install files over. Sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia -volume /Volumes/Untitled -applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app -nointeraction Assuming that you have the OS X Yosemite installer in your Applications folder and you have a Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)-formatted USB drive named "Untitled" mounted on the system, you can create a Yosemite install drive by typing the following command into the Terminal. If you don't want to use Diskmaker X, Apple has actually included a terminal command that can create an install disk for you. The finished Yosemite boot drive, which also includes OS X's handy startup utilities. The process is outlined in screenshots below. Choose your disk (or partition) from the list that appears, verify that you'd like to have the disk (or partition) erased, and then wait for the files to copy over. It will then ask you where you want to copy the files-click "An 8GB USB thumb drive" if you have a single drive to use or "Another kind of disk" to use a partition on a larger drive or some other kind of external drive. If it doesn't detect the installer (or if you click "Use another copy"), you can navigate to the specific installer you want to use. Select OS X 10.10 in Diskmaker X, and the app should automatically find the copy you've downloaded to your Applications folder. It's still possible to create a disk manually using a Terminal command (which we'll go into momentarily), but Diskmaker X presents an easy GUI-based way to do it that is less intimidating to most people. An administrator account on the Mac you're using to create the disk.ĭiskmaker X has actually been around since the days of OS X 10.7 (it was previously known as Lion Diskmaker), but it's more important now because Apple has made alterations to the installer that prevent easy USB drive creation using the built-in Disk Utility app. This app is free to download, but the creator accepts donations if you want to support his efforts. If you want a GUI, you need the latest version of Diskmaker X app-we wrote this article based on version 4 beta 2, but if a "final" version is released alongside Yosemite we'll update the article. The installer will delete itself when you install the operating system, but it can be re-downloaded if necessary. An 8GB or larger USB flash drive or an 8GB or larger partition on some other kind of external drive. We've created Yosemite USB from both Mavericks and Yosemite, but your experience with other versions may vary. There's the super easy way with the graphical user interface and the only slightly less easy way that requires some light Terminal use. Whatever the reason, you're in luck, because it's not hard to make one.Īs with last year, there are two ways to get it done. Or maybe you need a recovery disk for older Macs that don't support the Internet Recovery feature. For instance, if you find yourself doing multiple installs, a USB drive may be faster than multiple downloads (especially if you use a USB 3.0 drive). Things have proceeded remarkably smoothly since version 10.7 switched to download-only installers, but there are still good reasons to want an old, reliable USB stick.
